Assisted suicide is still a hotly debated topic, but with two deaf twins in Belgium choosing to end their lives on their own, perhaps we should be reconsidering our views on the issue.
The topic of assisted suicide reared its head again recently, when two deaf twins living in Belgium choose to die after learning they would also lose their eyesight. Unlike many who have chosen to end their lives, these men were not going to be killed by their illness. By already being deaf, and now blind, they said they would suffer too much emotional pain to make living worth it. This argument adds a whole new wrinkle in the right-to-die debate.
